10/19/2023: Henry Kramer, piano
For this concert, we welcome back four-time Musical Club of Hartford Evelyn Bonar Storrs Scholarship recipient Henry Kramer for his first full-length concert for the Club. While receiving a scholarship award in 2013 and each year between 2015 - 2017 and performing in the Club’s annual EBS Scholars Awards concert, and while studying for his doctorate under the guidance of Boris Berman at the Yale School of Music, in 2016, Henry garnered international recognition with a Second Prize win in the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, and more recently he was awarded a coveted 2019 Avery Fisher Career Grant by Lincoln Center. Henry has soloed with orchestras internationally and maintains an active schedule as a chamber music collaborator. His recordings have received critical acclaim in BBC Music Magazine and Gramophone. In 2022, he joined the music faculty of Université de Montréal.
His program will include the following works:

- Mendelssohn (both Fanny and Felix): Songs Without Words
- Ravel: Le Tombeau de Couperin
- Debussy: L'Isle joyeuse
