Violinist (and Hartt graduate) Gary Capozziello presented a program surveying the solo violin repertory from Bach to Bartók. Gary talked about the challenges composers have confronted in writing for unaccompanied violin, as well as their motivation for doing so. He illustrated his talk with copious examples.

​Connecticut native and award-winning violinist, Gary Capozziello, enjoys a varied musical life as both a highly versatile performer and a wide-ranging pedagogue. He studied at SUNY-Purchase Conservatory (B.M.), the New England Conservatory (M.M.) and at the Hartt School (DMA). He is an active recitalist and guest artist, and a passionate chamber performer, founding the Atlas Trio in 2016. Capozziello is also the artistic director of the International American Classical Music Festival, touring China's eastern seaboard performing concerts and teaching students in master classes and lessons. He is also co-founder of the Hartford Classical Music Academy, a collaborative chamber music program for international students. He is currently associate faculty at the Hotchkiss School, Professor of Violin at Quinnipiac University, and is a member of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and of Pegasus: The Orchestra, in New York City.
